Many of us undertake elaborate and expensive home improvement plans, to make our homes look more beautiful and pleasant. However, small, less expensive changes and improvisations in the house, tend to be more appropriate. This is because they not only cost very less, but are also do it yourself measures. The small change in the room changes the entire feel of the room, when added with the right interior designing touch up.
Some of the simple, economical interior painting ideas, that can be implemented to improvise the get up and look of the room, are as follows.
- Repainting the whole room.
- Changing the hand railing or the deck railing.
- Repainting some of the furniture items, such as the chairs or the table.
- Repainting the cupboards or shelves.
- Replacing the lamp shades or repainting the metallic lamp shades.
So the question remains, that how are we exactly going to select and apply the appropriate shade of paint. Here are some possibilities, permutations and combinations of paint that you can try out.
- One technique of selecting the restoration paint colors, is to have a shade or color that complements the floor. For example, if you have an ebony colored floor, then you can paint the furniture, like cupboards, shelves and chairs, white. This contrast combination of colors makes the room extremely inviting and beautiful. Another trick to make the look of the room more appealing, is to apply a dark shade, like pure black, for some furniture like the chair and table. This gives the furniture a very good get up.
- While choosing restoration paint colors, one can also apply corresponding shades in the whole room. For example, you can paint all the walls and furniture in the shades of light and mild colors, such as pink or purple. Many people who have wooden flooring, paint the room in dark shades of yellow or brown. If you want the shades to look mild, then you can also have lighter shades of the same restoration hardware paint colors. Often, there is confusion as to which shade or color to use, if the wall or floor is pure white. Well, there is a very simple, logical explanation, use white restoration hardware colors and add a small tinge of other colors, like purple or dark green to it. The slightest possible amount of the dark colors give the hardware, like furniture and doors or windows, a very refined look. In such a situation, smaller hardware, like the door knobs and handles, can be painted in very dark colors such as black, deep purple or dark green.
- A very effective way of using the restoration colors, is to resort to ‘live’ art or ‘abstract’ art. One of the experiments that I tried out, was done on the wall and desk where I sit and work. To make my work place look more attractive and beautiful, I had a glass glazed with the black sketches of Beethoven, Mozart and Yanni, along with the outline of a piano between the three of them. Then I painted the wall behind my desk, white, and drilled the glazed glass into the wall just above my desk. I also had my desk polished and painted in black. I matched the hardware of my desktop PC and laptop with the overalls of my room. The final picture, the work corner with a classic look; a black table and computer, black sketches of the music masters, all backed up by an amazing dash of a white colored background.
You can also try out different schemes and combinations with the hardware paint colors, according to your own tastes and preferences. The other day, I came across a very good idea. The owner of the house had paste a life-size photograph of the sea, that covered every inch of one side of the wall. He had painted the remaining walls and furniture in the shades of blue, including the floor. So a person sitting in the room, always feels like he or she is sitting on the surface of the ocean.
